This article explains how to use the Wordify SSL functions to manage your FREE Let's Encrypt certificates with ease.

Before You Begin: Understanding DNS and SSL

When setting up or updating SSL certificates, it's important to understand how DNS affects the process:

  • When you update your DNS records, the changes aren't instant due to DNS caching

  • Each DNS record has a TTL (Time To Live) that controls how long other servers remember the old settings

  • Let's Encrypt needs to verify your DNS record are pointing to Wordify before issuing a certificate

  • If the DNS hasn't fully propagated, the SSL update might be delayed

Pro Tip: If you're planning DNS changes, consider lowering your TTL values at least 24 hours before making the changes. This will help your SSL update process go more smoothly.

How do I update my SSL Certificate?

After you've migrated across your site and updated your DNS, you'll need to issue your certificate by following these steps:

  1. From the Sites Page, Click the Configure Icon next to the site you wish to update.

  2. Go to Hosting > Domains

  3. Click "Refresh DNS/SSL"

This will check the DNS is setup properly and then issue a new SSL cert with Let's Encrypt. This can take up to 5 minutes to complete.

Note: Names can't be added to the SSL certificates until you have updated the DNS.

How do I remove a name, for example, wordifysites.com, from my SSL certificate?

You can remove a name from your FREE SSL certificate by following these steps:

  1. From the Sites Page, Click the Pencil Icon next to the site you wish to update.

  2. Click Domains in the left-hand menu

  3. Click the pencil icon to edit the name you want to remove

  4. Set "Use SSL/HTTPs" to no and confirm

  5. Click Update SSL

That's it. Simple.
