This article explains how to use the Wordify SSL functions to manage your FREE Let's Encrypt certificates with ease.
Before You Begin: Understanding DNS and SSL
When setting up or updating SSL certificates, it's important to understand how DNS affects the process:
When you update your DNS records, the changes aren't instant due to DNS caching
Each DNS record has a TTL (Time To Live) that controls how long other servers remember the old settings
Let's Encrypt needs to verify your DNS record are pointing to Wordify before issuing a certificate
If the DNS hasn't fully propagated, the SSL update might be delayed
Pro Tip: If you're planning DNS changes, consider lowering your TTL values at least 24 hours before making the changes. This will help your SSL update process go more smoothly.
How do I update my SSL Certificate?
After you've migrated across your site and updated your DNS, you'll need to issue your certificate by following these steps:
From the Sites Page, Click the Configure Icon next to the site you wish to update.
Go to Hosting > Domains
Click "Refresh DNS/SSL"
This will check the DNS is setup properly and then issue a new SSL cert with Let's Encrypt. This can take up to 5 minutes to complete.
Note: Names can't be added to the SSL certificates until you have updated the DNS.
What does "Unknown (Blocked)" DNS status mean?
If your DNS status shows "Unknown (Blocked)" in the Wordify dashboard, don't worry - this usually doesn't indicate a problem with your site.
β
This status appears when our system couldn't verify your DNS configuration because the verification request was blocked. This typically happens when:
A security plugin on your site (like Wordfence, Sucuri, etc.) blocks our check
A firewall or WAF rule is filtering the request
Rate limiting is in place
How to know if your DNS is actually working:
If your SSL certificate is active and your site loads correctly over HTTPS, your DNS is configured properly β the "Unknown (Blocked)" status is just a false positive from our verification check being blocked.
βDo I need to do anything?
No action is required. The status is informational only and doesn't affect your site's functionality or security.
