Managing plugins

Install, activate, update, and remove WordPress plugins from Console.

Written by Daniel

Plugins add features to your WordPress site. Console lets you manage every plugin without logging in to WordPress itself.

View your plugins

Open your site, then under WordPress select Plugins. The table lists every installed plugin with its version, whether an update is available, its status, and an auto-update toggle.

The Plugins page

Activate or deactivate a plugin

Use the Status toggle on a plugin's row. A plugin has to be active to do its job. Deactivating leaves it installed but switched off.

Update a plugin

When a newer version is available, an Update to button appears in the Update column. Click it to update that plugin. To keep a plugin updating on its own, turn on its Auto-Update toggle.

Install a new plugin

  1. Click Install Plugin.

  2. Search WordPress.org for a plugin by name, or use Upload Plugin to add one from a ZIP file.

  3. Click Install on the plugin you want. Leave Activate after install ticked to switch it on straight away.

Remove a plugin

Use the Delete button on the plugin's row. Deleting removes the plugin and its files completely, so deactivate first if you only want to switch it off for a while.
