Creating a staging site

Create a private staging copy of your site to test changes safely.

Written by Daniel

A staging site is a full copy of your site for safe testing. You can try plugin updates, theme changes, or new code on the staging copy, then push the changes to your live site once you are happy.

Open the Staging page

Open your site, then under Workflow select Staging.

Create a staging site

  1. Click Create Staging.

  2. Review the staging site's name and temporary domain. The defaults suit most cases.

  3. Click Create Staging Site.

The Create Staging Site form

Console copies your site's files, database, and configuration into the new staging environment. This takes a few minutes, and the status shows as Setting up while it runs.

Use your staging site

Once the status shows Active, the staging site is ready. Open it to make and test changes safely, away from your live site.
