Adding a custom domain

Connect your own domain to a Wordify site, point DNS and get SSL.

Written by Daniel

Your site starts on a free wordifysites.com temporary URL. When you are ready, connect your own domain so visitors reach your site at its real address.

Before you start

You will need access to your domain's DNS settings. These are usually managed at your domain registrar, the company you bought the domain from.

Add the domain in Console

  1. Open your site and go to Hosting, then Domains / SSL.

  2. Click Add Domain and enter your domain name.

  3. Console shows the DNS records to point at your site.

The site Domains and SSL page

Point your DNS

At your registrar, create the DNS records Console gave you. DNS changes can take a little while to propagate.

Wait for DNS and SSL

Console checks your domain automatically. Once DNS resolves, an SSL certificate is issued and the domain shows DNS Connected and SSL Active. Use Recheck All to check immediately.

Set your primary domain

Once the domain is connected, set it as the Primary domain so it becomes the main address for your site.
